Waking Up The Unawakened

Since I began my spiritual path I felt that what I was doing was so incredible that I wanted (and needed) to share it with others.  There is a really great movie I just watched called "Faith Like Potatoes".  In the movie this man goes through an awakening to Jesus.  He learns at first that his new ways have caused him to loose friends and challenge his family.  Of course they paint him as a mean and angry man until he finds Jesus, but once he does he has all these miracles happen on his farm.  I began to see that if you are to step fully into your beliefs and not doubt that people will begin to see your ways and yes, some will leave your life and some will move into your life.  This is hard sometimes!  As I grow more spiritually and my more spiritual friends dont I also find distance happens.  It becomes tricky at times.

I think when you begin to follow a more spiritual path you go through motions of doubt and through times where you feel it is your duty to awaken the unawakened that are near and dear to you.  I have found that you cannot awaken anyone that truly does not wish to be changed.  When people that go through my shamanic healing training begin to "get it" they want to change the lives or all that are around them and begin to grow frustrated when it doesn't happen.  There is something magic inchoice!  When it comes to a spiritual path or a healing path.  No one can do it for you!  You must choose!  What have you been doing in your life that you wish to change?  What bothers you about what you see in those around you that are not as "enlightened" as you are?  Whatever you wish to change in them - change in YOU!  There are amazing stories coming out these days that talk about when you heal or address the aspects of other that exist in YOU that both people change!!!

So, what both you about life?  Another person?  Change that aspect of you and you will create the harmony you seek!  It's like magic!  This is the real secret to life!  Work on YOU!  But, in the process, don't forget that there is really nothing in you that needs to be fixed - nothing really is broken!  There is a maya, an illusion, in all things!  What is masking what is your desired life experience?  Just unmask it!  It's fun to play with - enjoy!  :-)

Living As a Spiritual Being
When we claim ourselves as a spiritual being we are not stating that we are any better than anyone else or that we have found ourselves to be something that someone else is not – elevating ourselves amongst others.  But, what we are stating is that we live our lives knowing that our purpose is defined, that our path is charted, that each challenge we are faced does not have to be a challenge, but something we have chosen for growth.  When you are waiting in line in a traffic jam or at a store – do you get upset or do you take notice of why you have been slowed down and gleam into the lesson you have been faced with?  Do you learn from this or anger from this?  In claiming myself a “spiritual person” I like to think that when I am in a line of traffic or in a store that I am being challenged with an all so familiar “haunting” of patience.  Why does it bother me to wait and at what point did I tune out this aspect of life as just that – life!  Why is constant motion more life than sitting or standing in a line?  When I am in traffic I now use the time to go into deep thought about life.  Why am I needing an obvious sign to slow down?  Am I that busy?  Why have I created this down time for myself?   Am I being saved from a accident?  Am I supposed to meet someone next to me that might provide me more direction in my life… or maybe confirm or deny something I am thinking?

I have been spending some time in the Denver area lately and I never knew how many people where in the Denver area until I started spending more time there.  The houses are close, the streets are busy, rush hour is dense, and there is a regular east/west ski traffic report that I obviously didn’t listen to when traveling home this holiday weekend – 5 hours to drive what would normally be 3!  I watched those around me get frustrated and angry and watched as they seemed to feel their time was better spent doing what they wanted verses what the universe was providing – a time out!  I have a few friends who always have somewhere else to be even though that somewhere else is nowhere else – have any friends like this?  I admit that I can be this way at times too.  When these friends are in one place they always feel the need to be somewhere else.  If you are like this – what are you not facing?  What are you hiding from?

Anyway, back to the “living as a spiritual being”…  When you claim yourself as such you begin to consciously take notice of these time outs as a gift that the universe is providing you and when you can find the beauty in every moment of life you have crossed over to seeing the spiritual or the God in everything.  You have created the master plan in conjunction with your God source and life is serving you how you and your creator see fit – the traffic jam is no accident!  The line in the supermarket is part of this collusion!  It’s all life and you are living it when you wake up to seeing what is there in the present/the now as a gift!  Where do you turn off and turn on in life?  And what about intimacy?  This is a biggy!  Do you understand the real gift of intimacy?  When you are with another you are at the closest place to where creation begins!  This is ultimately the closest place to a God source!  When you are claiming yourself as a spiritual person and you are intimate with another – how do you find your connection to source in this moment?  Are you consciously aware that this is what you are looking for? When you are intimate with another many things happen, but what I would like to focus on is how many of the ancients used intimacy.  It was used, for example, by the Egyptians for pleasure - yes, but it was also used to attain higher states of connection to a God source.  Through this seeking of God collectively with their partner they would attain states of enlightenment.  So, are you closed off to this by just having sex?  Are you seeking excitement or entertainment through sex and not seeing the more enlightened purpose or values that are possible in the union?

Living as a spiritual being means seeing your divine connection in all things and always looking to attain higher states of consciousness, awareness, and connection in your daily life.  Some call this “being awake”.  Are you able to see beyond the traffic jam, the line in the store, or intimate union with another (sexually or not) as all divine and perfect and for growth?  There is spiritual growth in all things.  There is God in all things.  The trick sometimes is to stop and ask yourself where this exists when in a moment of “challenge”.
